I just added an article area to the Berean Bible Study blog. As I write articles that apply to bible study or when I find articles also, then I will publish them in the articles area. Just go to the Articles tab at the top of the page.

I have already added the three “Chicago Statements” that deal with biblical inerrancy, biblical interpretation (hermeneutics), and biblical application. Go and check them out.

You will be blessed that you did sign up because not only will you learn what the bible says, you will learn how to study it effectively so that on your own or with others you can study God’s Word with confidence. What could be better than knowing that when you approach God’s Word, you will learn what God has for you. I cannot promise you that you will learn everything in God’s Word. But I can promise you that you will come away with something and that the Holy Spirit will show it to you. Now to the quick observation.

When I was an adolescent, if I saw a title to a sermon or article like this one, I would have thought the author or speaker was crazy. I never considered my parents as one of God’s greatest gifts in my immature years of life. I always thought that my parents never had it all together. Unfortunately, after I received Jesus Christ as my Savior right before my sixteenth birthday, our relationship got worse. That was partly because of my immaturity and partly of my parents not able to understand spiritual things.

Before we get started, there are still a few spots left in the upcoming bible study that we will have online starting in June. If you are interest, just sign up on the form to the right. If you sign up when all the spots are filled, you will be placed into a waiting list and then be notified when the next bible study will start. Now onto the quick observation.

After the first verse attributes the author of the book to Solomon, king of Israel, the first thing I notice is a list. Exactly what is it a list of? Here we see a list of abilities: to know, to discern, to receive, to give, and to understand. But also notice what these abilities are connected to: wisdom and instruction, the sayings of understanding, instruction in wise behavior et al, prudence, and a proverb and a figure et al. I thought to myself that it would be great to be able to do these proficiently. I’m sure it would save me from a lot of stupid mistakes that I have made in the past and what I am about to make in the future.

Then it hit me…

Coming in June 2008, I am going to have a small group study the bible with me online. We will be gong through 2 John this time through.
